ABOUT TIM MURPHY - Tim Murphy grew up in a large Irish Catholic family in the small country town of Millbrook, NY. As a product of the sixties, Tim embraced the lifestyle by starting his own rock n' roll band at the age of 13, becoming a hippie, and enjoying the philosophy du-jour of peace and love. Not much of a scholastic, Murphy was more a student of life, which he explored and pioneered inside and out.
Tim found his niche in the restaurant business and was blessed with great teachers who helped launch his career into management where he found himself in some of the most prestigious properties on the east coast for over twenty-five years. The lifestyle was glamorous, demanding, high profile, stressful and provided all of the elements for his downfall: alcohol, drugs and women.
Murphy's life eventually became a revolving door in and out of treatment centers for addiction. During his last visit to treatment, Tim made a life-saving decision to place his hand in the hand of God. Soon he was water baptized where the old Tim Murphy would remain dead at the bottom of the lake. When he walked away from that lake, he never looked back.
Eight years later he's never let go of the hand of God. He started Bridge Ministry, a Christian Based support program, went back to college to become a counselor, provides pastoral counseling, wrote the book: "From Crack To The Cross" and is currently a clinical counselor within the Daytop Agency, working with adolescents. Being in the helping profession and striving to shape lives and guide hurting souls is by far the most rewarding gift he's known in his life. Tim studies, writes, and books speaking engagements because of his passion for spreading the good news and the hope that is available for all of God's people.
